Learn to Swim Lessons

The Learn-to-Swim program gives adults, and children ages 6 months and older, the opportunity to learn to swim in a safe environment. The program is designed to allow students to learn at their own pace and master the skills at each level before moving on to the next one. 

Lap Swim

Tone your muscles and improve your cardiovascular fitness by participating in one of the best exercises available.

Senior Lap Swim & Exercise Program

Due to the El Monte Aquatic Center Renovation, the Rosemead Aquatic Center has been reserved for El Monte Senior Swim beginning Monday, October 16 between the hours of 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Mondays and Wednesdays. El Monte Senior Exercise Instructor will be on site.

Free transportation to the Rosemead Aquatic Center located at 9155 E. Mission Drive, Rosemead, CA 91770 will be provided.

El Monte shuttle bus leaves the El Monte Aquatic Center at 9:15 AM and returns approximately at 11:45AM.

El Monte’s discounted rate for seniors is $1.00 cash paid to the instructor, no additional discounts qualify. You must enter with the El Monte Instructor to receive the discounted rate.  Seniors may meet at the Rosemead Aquatic Center and enter as a group to obtain discounted rate.

Proper swimming attire is required.

Water Fitness & Exercise

This program offers a total body workout consisting of cardio and strength training while minimizing impact on your joints and muscles.  Water equipment is provided. For additional information, please click here.

Group Fitness & Exercise

This program offers training in a variety of formats, including Zumba, Pilates and Yoga. This cardiovascular workout is driven by upbeat music with foot stomping movements targeting the heart, lungs and lower body toning. For additional information, please click here.

Homeschool Program

This program offers swimming instructions to students who are home schooled and wish to meet their physical education requirements.

Recreation Swim (Summer Program)

Swimming is a great recreational activity for people of all ages.  It can provide you with a low impact workout as well as a great way to relax and spend time with family and friends.    

Junior Lifeguard Program (Summer Program)

In the Junior Lifeguard program, participants learn what it truly takes to be a lifeguard. While increasing their swimming capabilities, they are able to learn about the physical aspects of being a professional rescuer. Participants are also challenged mentally with a curriculum that encompasses all aspects of being a lifeguard by training in the American Red Cross Guard Start Program, including First Aid, CPR and Water Safety Aide courses. Junior Lifeguard candidates also volunteer at the pool in various programs, which gives them a chance to work alongside lifeguards seeing them in action and learn what they do. Junior Lifeguards will also attend three field trips where candidate can experience various types of lifeguarding duties.

Lifeguard Training Course

An American Red Cross certification course that provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illness.
