THE EL MONTE IMPACT PROGRAM
(Improving and Maintaining Public Awareness and Community Teamwork)
This program was implemented by former Police Chief Ken Weldon, to bring together the community and the City departments to make the City of El Monte a better and safer city.
The program involves assigning police officers to a small geographical area of the City called Reporting Districts. Officers are encouraged to get to know the residents and the business persons in their RD. The officer can utilize other City departments or obtain necessary resources to resolve problems before the problems become worse.
The program improves on quality of life issues in the City of El Monte. One issue which affects all of us is graffiti. The support of the community is necessary to combat this problem. Please call our graffiti hotline to report such graffiti.
Another concern is large items placed at the curb for removal. The trash removal company that picks up your trash should be called to remove large items. Old couches, water heaters, and other appliances should not be placed at the curbside until your trash removal company has been called out and not until the night before the scheduled pick-up date. Refrigerators cannot be left at curbside unless the doors have been removed as this is a safety hazard for children, per 402(b) of the California Penal Code.
We all want the City to be a better and safer place for our children. Often times concerned residents don’t know who or where to ask for help or advice in the community. “El Monte IMPACT” can be the solution to these concerns. The various City departments are here to help and be a part of the community.
Thank you for making an
City of El Monte
