Parks Maintanance Services

The City of El Monte Park Maintenance Division is devoted to maintain and improve the city's parks and facilities. The Division is dedicated to keeping the city's parks safe, well cared for and fully functional for residents and visitors alike.
The Park Maintenance Division operates seven days a week with a staff currently comprised of 18 full time employee and three part time employees. |

The City of El Monte has ten community parks that total over forty- three acres of parkland. The Park Maintenance Division oversees the maintenance and improvement of each park. Typical daily duties include picking up litter from the parks, sanitizing the public restrooms, graffiti removal, safety inspection and maintenance of park playground equipment, painting, weed abatement, pest control, herbicide use, and edging, mowing, hedging, pruning, blowing down,, aerating, fertilizing, and over seeding of lawns, turf and landscaped areas

Landscaping Municipal Facilities

| There are four major municipal facilities for which the Landscaping crew is responsible to maintain the landscapes: the El Monte Community Center, the Jack Crippen Senior Center, the El Monte Historical Museum, and the El Monte Civic Center, consisting of City Hall East and West as well as the Police Department. The landscaping and maintenance duties include mowing, edging, weeding of turf, pruning roses; pruning and trimming the ornamental trees, planting annual flowers, and cleaning and sweeping of walkways. |

Building Maintenance

The Grooming and Park Cleanup crews maintain the buildings at the El Monte Community Center, Jack Crippen Senior Center, El Monte Historical Museum, and park facilities such as the Lambert Park auditorium and gym, Zamora Park auditorium, Mt. View Park auditorium, Pioneer Park log cabin, and the Historic Park Osmond House. Ongoing maintenance duties include stripping and waxing of floors, sanitizing facility restrooms, cleaning and maintaining tables and chairs, and setting up and breaking down equipment for activities, events and group meetings.

BUS STOPS/SHELTERS MAINTENANCE

| The Park Maintenance Division maintains 179 bus stops throughout the City. Seventy-six of the 179 stops are bus shelters. The bus route crews’ duties consist of sweeping and picking up all debris, pressure washing, graffiti removal, painting and replacement of trash liners. |

Citywide Special Events
|
|

The City of El Monte has many special events throughout the year, and the Park Maintenance Division is there to handle all the deliveries, setups and assist with the running of these events. This includes setting up tables and chairs, maintaining the grounds, light construction, decorations, electrical, and operating the sound system. Among some of the special events the Park Maintenance Division supports are: Holiday House, Children's Day Parade, , Veteran's Day Ceremonies, Earth Day, Little League openings, various carnivals, blood drives, rabies clinics, election days, and Police Department open house, as well as City groundbreaking ceremonies and dedications.

Medians

All the street medians in the City are maintained by the Park Maintenance Division. Ongoing maintenance consists of mowing, trimming, overseeding, , weed abatement, and fertilizing all landscaped medians.

Plumber
|
| The City of El Monte's plumber is part of the Park Maintenance Division. The plumber is responsible for all the plumbing needs of the city as well as the irrigation for all the city's parks and landscaped facilities. |
