Fisher joined the El Monte Police Department in 1999, following in the footsteps of his father, Rex, who served as a Detective for EMPD. Fisher was assigned to serve in various capacities over the years which included Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Detective specializing in child sex crimes investigations, Polygraph Examiner, and Firearms Instructor. Fisher holds 18 years of experience with the City’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit as an operator, sniper, and commander. He previously served as a Corporal, Sergeant, and Lieutenant of the Patrol and Investigations and Captain of the Field Services Division.
Fisher is a trusted member of the El Monte community as a life-long employee and San Gabriel Valley native. His family ties are deeply rooted in El Monte as his great uncle, Edwin Stueve, migrated from Missouri to El Monte to work in the agricultural fields of El Monte in the early 1940s. Edwin and his siblings, including Jake’s grandmother, moved to Monrovia where they established Alta Dena Dairies, which became the largest producing dairy in the nation. Today, Alta Dena Dairy is owned by Dairy Farmers of America.
