Trolley Station 

The City of El Monte Trolley Station is located at 3679 Center Avenue. The Trolley Station Office is open Monday - Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Senior Transportation

Transportation Service for participants of the Community and Senior Services Division Nutrition Program is Monday through Friday at the Jack Crippen Multipurpose Senior Center.

Reservations must be made 24 hours in advance. Transportation for Bingo and other special Community and Senior Services Division events are also available.

For reservations, please call 626-580-2217 Monday through Thursday between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Dial-A-Ride

The City of El Monte offers a Dial-A-Ride service for seniors (55 years and older) and disabled residents (any age) of El Monte.

This transportation program is a "shared ride" service. The Dial-A-Ride Program operates within the city limits of El Monte only, with the exception for medical or governmental appointments (within a five-mile radius).

To apply for a Dial-A-Ride card, please call the Transportation Office at 626-580-2217, Monday through Thursday, between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The City of El Monte’s Dial-A-Ride Program is designed to assist our senior and disabled residents with their transportation needs.

Dial-A-Ride In-town Service

All reservations must be made at least 24-hours before the requested time during business hours. Dial-A-Ride in-town transportation service fee is $0.50 each way. No Dial-A-Ride in-town service is provided on Saturday.

7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; with the last scheduled pick-up at 4:30 p.m.

Sunday

8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; with the last scheduled pick-up at 1:30 p.m.

Dial-A-Ride Out-of-Town Service

All reservations must be made at least 24-hours before the requested time during business hours. Dial-A-Ride out-of-town service fee is $1.00 each way. No Dial-A-Ride out-of-town service is provided Saturday and Sunday.

Youth Transportation

Transportation is provided for the City of El Monte's Parks, Recreation and Community Services Programs throughout the year.

Bus Pass Sales

The City of El Monte provides subsidized bus passes to its residents.

Foothill's 31-day passes are sold at a reduced fare for students (K-12), seniors and disable El Monte Residents.

Bus passes can be purchased at the El Monte Trolley Station Office located at 3679 Center Avenue Monday - Thursday from 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. In order to be eligible to purchase a senior, disabled, student or college monthly bus pass you must be an El Monte resident. Proof of El Monte residency is required.

Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA)'s new fare capping daily passes and 7-day passes are available at the El Monte Bus Station at 3501 Santa Anita Avenue, El Monte. 

CITY OF EL MONTE'S ZERO-EMISSION BUS ROLLOUT PLAN

In December of 2018, the State of California (State) through the California Air Resources Board (CARB), implemented the Innovative Clean Transit (ICT) Regulation which requires all public transit agencies to gradually transition their bus fleets to zero-emission buses (ZEBs). The ICT regulation applies to all transit agencies that own or lease their own transit bus fleet with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) greater than 14,000 pounds. The requirement for small transit agencies such as the City of El Monte's Transportation Services will be required to begin its ZEB purchases by calendar year 2026. Starting in year 2029, 100 percent of all transit bus purchases will be required to be zero-emission buses with a full transition to ZEBs by 2040. In order to comply with State requirements, the City of El Monte developed the following ZEB Rollout Plan:

ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING STATIONS IN THE CITY OF EL MONTE 

The City of El Monte now offers Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations for public usage. You can find a City-owned EV Charging Station at the following public parking lots: City Hall, downtown (i.e., Valley Mall parking lot) and Metrolink Station. You must download and create an account on the ChargePoint App in order to charge your EV at the stated locations. There is a $0.30 cent fee per kWh when charging at one of three locations. Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
